The purpose of the system is to inject gases – either alone or in conjunction with reactive powders – into a liquid steel furnace to promote the modification of inclusions or carbon oxidation of the steel.
The system must be capable of reliably and repeatably inflating to both the system itself and adjacent employees. It must also be easy for employees to prepare and use. Since this is a test prototype, developers should also be able to easily change some parameters, especially some system associated times.
The system has been developed in several directions, taking into account operational and construction aspects.
The prototype has been constructed and tested, to be able to make liquid steel treatments, both with gases as with solid powders, in activity 5 (industrial testing).
